Ten Days of Ledgestone Announced

Ten Days of Ledgestone Announced

Starting December 11th Discraft and Ledgestone Insurance are happy to announce the “Ten Days of Ledgestone.” To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Discraft Ledgestone Insurance Open, we will be making one new announcement each day from December 11th through December 20th. During the Holiday season Ledgestone TD Nate Heinold had the idea to play off of the famous 12 Days of Christmas song and this idea came to fruition. Ten exciting announcements will be made in regards to details for the 2020 event.

What kind of things can you expect to hear about with this announcement? “We plan on announcing several partner deals, course updates, player pack details, the 2020 Ledgestone disc release schedule and many other exciting announcements,” said Heinold. The team will be going all out for the 2020 Ledgestone and they expect record turnout for the 10th anniversary edition of the event. Along with these updates, the tournament will be releasing its new 10th anniversary edition logo before the end of the year, which will be featured on fundraiser discs and will be utilized accordingly for branding the event. The tournament will also have special apparel for sale in 2020 with this logo. “It was time to update the logo and move the branding forward, and the 10th anniversary was the best time to do that,” continued Heinold.

The 2020 Ledgestone will once again boast one of the largest Professional payouts of the year. For the last 5 years the Ledgestone has consistently been the highest or second highest payout event of the year:

  • The 2015 event had the largest pro payout in disc golf history (at the time)
  • The 2016 event was the #1 MPO/FPO payout of the year and the #2 overall payout event of the year.
  • The 2017 event was the #1 overall payout event of the year.
  • The 2018 event was the #2 overall payout event of the year.
  • The 2019 event was the #2 overall payout event of the year (Pro Worlds, which was also run by the Ledgestone team, was the #1 payout event of the year).

The Ledgestone event in 2020 is expected to generate a professional payout of over $100,000, spurred by the fundraising prowess of the Ledgestone team. “2020 will continue Ledgestone’s place in the sport as one of the best payout events of the year. We will continue to invest significant resources into making sure our touring pros can stay on the road and compete,” said Heinold. The minimum added cash for a DGPT event will be $12,000 in 2020, but Heinold expects to hopefully quadruple that figure. Look for the projected payout of the event to be released very soon.

Registration will open on Disc Golf Scene to sponsors in the first week of January. The event will once again utilize a tiered registration process for MPO and FPO players and that schedule will be as follows:

  • 2/10/2020 – MPO 1000+ & FPO 900+
  • 2/17/2020 – MPO 970+ & FPO 870+
  • 2/24/2020 – MPO 935+ & FPO 835+
  • 3/2/2020 – MPO 900+ & FPO Open Registration

As a reminder, the tournament will abide by PDGA Competition Guidelines that were updated in 10/2019, which establish a minimum rating of 900 for competitors in the MPO division. If you register for the event and you have a rating of 900 but the rating later falls below 900, you are still eligible to compete in the event.

Early Amateur and Age Protected Professional registration will open 1/1/2020 at 6PM CST for anyone who sponsors a hole or for anyone who purchases a special LE 4 pack of discs for $90. Amateur registration will be available starting 2/17/2020 for all amateur divisions. Age protected professionals will be able to register starting 2/24/2020. All registration times will open at 6PM CST. The DGPT portion of the event will have their registration at this link: https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/DGPT_10th_Annual_Discraft_Ledgestone_Insurance_Open_2020

The tournament will be charging for parking at the showcase MPO and FPO division courses. All registered players will get free parking, so this fee is for spectators. The pricing model will follow closely with what was charged for the 2019 PDGA Pro Worlds event:

  • $10 daily parking fee
  • $35 weekly parking pass (includes a disc and a shirt)
  • $90 VIP pass (includes an amazing spectator pack)

The VIP pass details will be announced soon, but there will be an amazing item in the VIP packs that will be an exciting (and valuable) addition to the pack. Stay tuned for more details on what that will be!

The 2020 Discraft Ledgestone Insurance Open will take place August 13th through 16th in Central Illinois. The tournament is grateful for the support of the many park districts and local government entities who help make this event happen. Don’t miss out on this year’s event!
