2020 Events Schedule Announced

2020 Events Schedule Announced

The Ledgestone tournament team is happy to announce the release of the 2020 Ledgestone events schedule. The 2020 events schedule includes a lot of returning events and some new and exciting events. “Planning an events schedule for a tournament the size of Ledgestone is incredibly challenging. Factors that need to be weighed include venue size, how many people we think will show up to an event, if we need to provide food at the event and many other factors,” said Nate Heinold, Ledgestone TD. The Events schedule is the 4th in our series of announcements on the Ten Days of Ledgestone. One of the more popular events have been the Flex C Tiers run during the event week, and this year the event is adding another Flex C Tier which will increase the total to 5 during the week. The typical Eureka Temp Flex C Tier will take place on Sunday, Bradley will take place on Monday, the Northwood Gold Flex C Tier will take place on Tuesday, Sunset Hills will be on Wednesday, and Kennel Lake (new permanent course) will take place on Thursday. Players have found these Flex events to be a fun way to compete in a sanctioned event while also warming up for the big show.

This year’s event will see a tournament pro shop at both Lake Eureka and Northwood Park (similar to 2019 Worlds). The tournament will have some special disc releases for sale during tournament week as well as special Ledgestone X apparel. Tuesday will see the Juniors Clinic and Kids Disc Golf event at Washington Park, which will include free pizza for all juniors attending the event. Top pros will be conducting a clinic for the juniors as well. Wednesday will see a host of activities including our press conference at Sunset Hills, Vendor buying time, MPO and FPO check-in, a Discraft player’s clinic, and our Play with the Champs Exhibition. The 2019 Play with the Champs Exhibition was our most successful yet. This event is run by Dana Vicich and gives players the chance to help raise funds for St Jude and play with some of the best players in the world.

Thursday, as usual, will be the busiest day of Ledgestone week. MPO and FPO will start the tournament off at Northwood and Sunset respectively, while AMS and all other players will check in at Sunset. We will have our annual $10,000 hole-in-one contest at Sunset Hills, where an ace will net you $10,000, and we will also have our Ice Cream Social at Sunset Hills that evening. Thursday night will also see the return of our Magic Show by David Casas, which will be followed by a musical performance by Roger This. Paul McBeth will be doing a Meet N Greet and signing during AM check-in, and the night will be capped off by Glo Disc Golf at Washington Park. Whew!

Friday will see the start of AM competition and the second round of competition for the MPO and FPO divisions. The Flymart will return to the Ashland House in Morton, the location of our most successful Flymart (2015). We will also have a player’s dinner that evening as well as the St Jude Dunk tank. And finally, we are thrilled to announce that we will be introducing Poker night. This will take place Friday night and is only available for the first 100 people to register. This will start around 7PM and will go until we have a winner! The cost will be $35 to register and you can sign up through Ledgestone registration at Disc Golf Scene or a separate registration page through Disc Golf Scene. We will have prizes for the top 20 competitors, including a Mach X basket for the winner and a Mach VII basket for the runner-up, and most importantly, the winner of this event will compete in the main event poker night on Saturday night. The game will be Texas Hold Em! The idea to do poker night came from Dan “Stork” Roddick, better known as PDGA #003. “Stork had encouraged me to do poker night for a few years and told me that if I made it happen, he would come to Ledgestone. I invited him to be a commentator on the broadcast for poker night, so I will do my best to hold him to his word,” said Heinold.

Saturday will find MPO and FPO playing their third rounds, while all other players will compete in their 2nd round. We will have another Flymart that evening at the Ashland House as well as another go around for the St Jude dunk tank. A pizza party will take place that night as well as our Eagles Wings Chapel Service. And finally, Saturday night will be our Poker with the Pros event. 8 top professionals (along with the winner of the Friday night event) will be competing for the Texas Hold Em Ledgestone Main Event Crown. Manufacturers will be able to sponsor their players into this event at a cost of $200 per player, with proceeds going to St Jude. This event will be filmed live by SmashboxxTV and our goal will be to release some kind of post production coverage for the event. Sunday is our final day of competition for all players and will see our AM payout at Eureka with lots of goodies available (tons of discs, bags, baskets, apparel, etc). Our St Jude first putt will take place Sunday at 2PM, and the awards and the raffle drawing will take place Sunday around 5PM. Do not miss this year’s event, LedgestoneX!
