With over 1,900 players, 74 staff members, and an army of volunteers, it’s evident that putting on the Ledgestone Insurance Open involves big numbers. Here are some other stats behind preparation for the tournament on the first day of Ledgestone Week.
3,000-ish - The number of discs Ledgestone staff members Jason LaBella and Corey Frink set out early Monday for the Eureka Pro Shop.
2,000-plus - Emails Staff Director of Communications Dalton Sackett sent out by 11 a.m. That included a bulk email to all 1,752 Ledgestone amatuer players and the ensuing questions/replies.
200 - Pounds of sand poured on the artificial turf for the teepad on Eureka Temp’s famous ‘Water Tower Hole,’ by Assistant Director of Operations Kliff Durham and Assistant TD Michel Munn.
145 - Disc order forms staff member Marc Wheeler printed in the opening 2.5 hours of his first day on the job. “Now I’m starting to get in a groove,” he said.
30 - Video clips Staff Writer Jacob Arvidson was combining into a video on the tournament’s economic impact in the area.
7.6 - Miles walked by 3 p.m. by Munn, while working on course prep at Northwoods Black and Eureka Temp.
2 - New course signs at Northwood that Tournament Director Nate Heinold and Morton Park District’s Joel Dickerson posed beside for photos.
