After Round 2: Who holds the lead in MPO at the 2022 Ledgestone Open?

Tied 1st - Ricky Wysocki at 13-under par
Tied 1st - Anthony Barela at 13-under par
Tied 1st - Gannon Buhr at 13-under par

Who shot the hot round in Round 2 of the 2022 Ledgestone Insurance Open in MPO?

Paul McBeth shot the hot score in Round 2 with an 8-under par.

Quote from the co-leader: “I made some pretty bad mistakes out there,” Barela said. “I’m not super satisfied and I know I can shoot a lot better. There’s a lot to clean up. If I’m in the woods tomorrow I just need to pitch out and play for par. That cost me two strokes today. I’m just focused on tomorrow. Northwood is my favorite course to play all year.”

Game-changing moment: Paul McBeth’s 6-under through seven holes set the tone for the rest of the day. The gallery following closely behind the 5-time world champion roared every time a putt went in, echoing through the woods and letting the rest of the course know McBeth was making a comeback. His six birdies all came from well inside Circle 1, including a tap-in on hole 5. McBeth’s only par in that stretch came after a kick sent him into the rough on hole 4. He rode that hot early start to tie the course record and shoot the hot round at 8-under par.

Photo Caption: Randon Latta sinks his seventh birdie putt of the round on Hole 15. Latta’s accuracy helped him stay out of trouble and climb up 13 spots to sixth place.

Standout Stat: Northwood Black has barely any room for error on long, narrow fairways. Randon Latta found those fairways 90% of the time (top in MPO) and used his accurate tee shots to average 13.23 strokes gained from tee to green on the rest of the field. That mark was about four strokes clear of the next closest competitor, Ben Callaway. Latta used that stellar statistic to vault 13 spots from 19th place up to sixth.

Highlight of the Day: Day 1 had four aces. Day 2 only had one and it belonged to Dan Schlitter on hole 7. The Illinois native threaded the needle on the tightly wooded, 325-foot par 3 and smashed chains.
