Ledgestone Disc Golf, in coordination with the PDGA, is happy to release the 2024 PDGA Pro Worlds logo and details about the 2024 event. This is the 11th announcement in our Twelve Days of Ledgestone promotion.
When designing the visual identity of this year's event, our team did extensive research on the area's culture, geography and history. The Creative Marketing Director for Ledgestone, Paul Johnson, served as the lead for this project. His local perspective (he is from the Appalachia region) paired with our team's research resulted in an identity that we feel embodies Lynchburg and Bedford County in its entirety. The event icon consists of a few parts that work together to form the identity for the event. The maple leaf silhouette defines the icon’s shape, while the patchwork (inspired by the iconic Appalachian quilts of the region) makes up the icon’s deeper symbolism. The golden ray that makes up the peak of the icon was inspired by Lynchburg’s many historic churches and their characteristic steeples. Moving downward, the green wedges symbolize the rolling hills and green ridges that frame the area. Another significant part of the logo that frames Lynchburg is the James River which is illustrated by the blue wedges that make up the bottom portion of the icon. And finally, the center of the logo features an iconic symbol to the state of Virginia: the heart. After all, Virginia is truly for lovers!
