2015 USDGC Qualifying Information
This year we are excited to announce that the 2015 Ledgestone Insurance Open presented by Discraft will be a qualifier for the United States Disc Golf Championship.
All current, dues-paid members of the Professional Disc Golf Association are eligible to qualify for the 2015 USDGC. Since the USDGC is a PDGA Major, all competitors must have a current PDGA membership and must have passed the PDGA Official’s exam. The estimated field size is 144 competitors split evenly into two flights of play; Open and Performance.
A total of five (5) spots will be awarded at this year's Ledgestone Insurance Open. The top five overall scores will earn an invitation to compete. Any player finishing in the top five who has qualified at an earlier event, or who has received an exemption or special invitation, will be excluded. Players shooting the next lowest score will become eligible. If there is a tie there will be a playoff to determine who gets the final spots. A player may only qualify once via Regional Qualifying events and the spot may not be handed down. Each player will have 30 days to register. This time period begins immediately following the completion of each event. There are no exceptions to the 30-day registration deadline. Players who miss their deadline automatically forfeit eligibility and may not re-qualify at Regional Qualifying events. Those players do remain eligible for Monday Qualifying.
This year's event has the benefit of being later in the season for the purposes of qualifying for the USDGC. Because players who are already qualified for the event won't count towards the five places that are up for grabs at this year's event, we could see someone place 20th in the event and still get a spot in the USDGC if enough people who finish in the top 20 have already qualified at other regional events.
This year's USDGC will take place from October 7th to October 10th in Rock Hill, SC. Ledgestone Insurance Open TD and Captain of Team Ledgestone will be in attendance as a player. He is looking forward to hopefully playing with people who qualify from this event! The cost to play in the Open Flight edition of the USDGC is $250. Good luck!
