Ledgestone Increases Added Cash; Aims to Raise $50,000 for St Jude

Ledgestone TD Nate Heinold is announcing that the tournament’s added cash will increase $5,000 above and beyond the promised amount, which will push the total professional purse to nearly $110,000. Additionally Heinold is announcing that the tournament is aiming to raise $50,000 for St Jude.

Media Team Announced

Discraft Ledgestone Insurance Open Tournament Director Nate Heinold is excited to announce that this year’s event will feature unprecedented media coverage. The DGPT and the Ledgestone team have put together a massive team for the 2020 event, with the goal to showcase the event to more eyeballs than ever before.

The 10th Annual Discraft Ledgestone Insurance Open presented by GRIPeq will proceed forward with the state of Illinois entering Phase 4 of their reopening guidelines effective 6/26/20.

PDGA Sanctioning Reopens in IL

Effective May 29th the PDGA has opened up sanctioning in the state of Illinois to coincide with the entire state moving to Phase 3 of the reopening guidelines.

Heinold Announces he will run for re-election for PDGA BOD

Nate Heinold announced today that he will run for re-election for the PDGA Board of Directors. Heinold has served on the PDGA BOD since 2017 and is the current Secretary for the organization and is the chair of the PDGA’s Majors and NT Committee.

Question & Answer Series: Dan "Stork" Roddick

Dan "Stork" Roddick is PDGA member number #003. Beginning in 1975, he was the Director of the International Frisbee Association and later, the President of the World Flying Disc Federation. He is currently a consultant, serving as the Director of Special Projects for the PDGA. His competitive and organizational career in disc sports has been broad. He is a member of the Disc Golf, Freestyle, Ultimate and Frisbee Halls of Fame.

Next up in our Q & A interview series is Kip Taufer. Kip Taufer is the brainchild/designer/builder of Megiddo at Westwood and is one of the co-designers of Northwood Gold. Kip is also the co-designer with Nate Heinold of the new course in Morton, Kennel Lake, that will debut at this year’s Ledgestone Insurance Open.

Next up in our Q & A Series is Greg Nettles. Greg is the designer of the original Northwood course, the redesigned course in 2012, and the co-designer of Northwood Gold. He has designed and built several other courses in the area and is a past President of the Peoria Frisbee Club.

Next up in our Q & A Series is Dr. Justin Menickelli. Justin is the PDGA Board of Directors President and is a Professor at Western Carolina University. Justin is the co-author of the Definitive Guide to Disc Golf.

Next up in our Q & A Series is Wilbur Wallis. Wilbur is a long time Central Illinois resident and is the son of PDGA Volunteer legends Mom and Old Man Wallis. Wilbur is a volunteer legend in his own right as he has worked or volunteered at nearly 35 PDGA Majors. Wilbur is the current President of the Champaign County Disc Golf Club and has been a Course TD at the Ledgestone for the last several years. Wilbur has also designed many courses in the Central Illinois area.
